Does anything fetch llms.txt?

Question

Which user agents, if any, request this site's llms.txt file, and how often?

Status: RunningStarted 2026-07-14Updated 2026-07-14

Hypothesis

Fetches will be rare and dominated by curiosity tools and SEO crawlers, with little traffic from the AI platforms the file nominally addresses.

Method

  1. Publish /llms.txt on this site, accurate and framed as experimental.
  2. Log all requests to the path with user agent and date from server or CDN logs.
  3. Publish the fetch log summary here at intervals.

Environment: This website in production; CDN/server logs

Variables: User agent; Fetch frequency

Result and current observation

No result yet. The file ships with launch; the first log summary will be posted after a full month of production traffic.

Limitations

  • One low-traffic site; absence of fetches is weak evidence about the ecosystem.

Replication notes

Trivially replicable on any site with access to request logs.

llms.txt is a September 2024 proposal by Jeremy Howard (Answer.AI) for an LLM-friendly markdown index; no major AI platform has confirmed using it, and Google staff have said no AI system currently consumes it.

Publishing an llms.txt is low-cost and may be a useful convenience, but it is not a visibility mechanism and should not be sold as one.
