Query fan-out
The expansion of one user question into many related sub-queries by a search or answer system, which then retrieves against that whole expanded set, reaching well past the literal words typed.
In use
Fan-out means a page can be retrieved for questions it never states verbatim. It can also fail on its exact target phrase, if it does not actually answer the underlying question.
Examples: 'best crm for small law firm' fanning out to pricing, integrations, migration and review sub-queries.
